Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Energy & Sustainability Manager in London to lead the development and delivery of an Energy & Sustainability programme across an extensive retail portfolio.
The successful candidate will manage a small team and focus on energy management, while driving operational excellence through collaboration, innovation, and a customer-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver an in-depth sustainability strategy in close coordination with the client and various service providers.
Ensure operational transformation through technical best practices, innovation, and a strong focus on customer experience.
Manage business information reporting and oversee operational excellence.
Collaborate with stakeholders to implement an ambitious sustainability strategy.
Support the client’s broader sustainability goals by providing relevant reporting and proactively addressing supply chain objectives.
Deliver a clear management programme aligned with ISO14001 principles in partnership with the Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment team.
Take ownership of data management platforms for utilities, waste, and carbon emissions, ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
Develop and execute energy performance strategies across the portfolio, integrating energy, water, and carbon impacts into asset management strategies.
Lead the introduction of energy-efficient technologies and operational improvements to meet energy and utility consumption targets.
Collaborate with project teams to identify and assess the environmental impact of new projects.
Apply standard assessment methodologies to demonstrate the effectiveness of sustainability measures.
Support activities that enhance user experience across the portfolio in collaboration with the client and account teams.
Provide direct line management to the energy and sustainability team, ensuring their professional development.
Knowledge & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing energy and sustainability programmes.
Ability to lead a specialist operational team within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Strong understanding of sustainability drivers within real estate, particularly in the retail sector.
Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and utility data management.
Knowledge of legislative and market trends affecting environmental sustainability.
Solid understanding of energy and water supply industries and emerging market trends.
Technical background in building services or energy management.
Project management experience, particularly in implementing energy efficiency strategies.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), control theory, and energy-efficient technologies.
Understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting systems.
Competency in statistical analysis and benchmark techniques.
Experience with Monitoring & Targeting (M&T) software.
Energy-related qualifications, ideally at degree level, and certifications such as Low Carbon Consultant or Chartered Energy Manager.
