Description

Lewis Davey are proud to be partnering with Rother District Council to assist them in recruiting a new Development Manager.

You’ll be based in the beautiful coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea in their central offices. Bexhill is a town steeped in history with a vibrant community.  Situated in prime position on the coast between Brighton and Ashford, this is an easy location to commute with fantastic transport infrastructure.  If you’re looking to travel by train, there’s regular railway links from Ashford, Brighton and London. However, commuting doesn’t have to be a part of your day to day routine, as flexible working is available for this role. Most of the development management team are in three out of five days a week, supporting an excellent work life balance while still allowing for a supportive and collaborative working environment.

You will be leading an established and busy team of Town Planners across the Development Manager and Enforcement services. This is a role for an individual with excellent people skills and prior experience managing a diverse team of staff at different levels. You’ll be working closely with the three current team leaders to ensure a high quality of delivery that is efficient, economic and responsive. You will need to have a working understanding of conservation matters and rural planning policy having particular regard to the beautiful historic character of “1066 Country” and the High Weald AONB.

Key requirements for this role include leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with various outside bodies, the public and politicians, including working closely with the Planning Committee.

This is a full time role with a salary package of £59,414 plus a £3,768 car allowance. There are also additional benefits such as an excellent pension scheme and staff wellbeing support. For the right candidate, there is also a relocation package on offer.
