Description

Our Client is a leader in energy and operations and are looking in the Virginia area for a Operations Supervisor for their power plant facility.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient daily operation of the facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role involves organizing and coordinating the daily activities of operations personnel, setting priorities for tasks and projects, planning and scheduling outages, and providing technical guidance. The Operations Supervisor also supervises and trains Shift Supervisors, ensuring the facility's operational readiness and the team's capability to handle emergencies or unusual circumstances effectively.

Position Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, candidates must be able to perform the following duties:

  • Conduct plant tours and oversee the safety of all operational activities involving staff and contractors.
  • Direct, or personally perform, required operations or corrective actions during emergencies or unusual situations, coordinating all involved personnel.
  • Act as a relief Shift Supervisor when needed.
  • Oversee and update training programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operator logs.
  • Ensure completion and prioritization of work orders in the Preventative Maintenance system (CMMS).
  • Lead daily meetings with Shift Supervisors.
  • Manage waste receipt and activities in the tipping floor area.
  • Supervise facility water analysis processes.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors as required.
  • Serve as the emergency coordinator in the absence of department or facility managers.
  • Stand in for the Operations Manager when needed.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of experience in power or resource recovery plant operations, with hands-on and/or supervisory experience with high-pressure boilers and electric generation equipment.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • ASME QRO Site-Specific Operator Certification (must be obtained and maintained).

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Capacity to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualified to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Work in various weather conditions consistently.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday during the day, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
