About the Role
In this role, The Senior Consultant will be part of the Sustainability and Carbon team. This team provides services in corporate net zero strategy, science-based targets advisory, carbon data management, energy efficiency, sustainability and climate risk, biodiversity net gain, natural capital, EHS management, impact assessment, health sciences, air quality, BREEAM Infrastructure, and due diligence to diverse clients in various sectors.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support projects delivering carbon accounting assessments, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Set targets, develop, and implement carbon reduction strategies and net-zero roadmaps tailored to client needs.
- Proactively identify potential client leads and contribute to the expansion of carbon and net zero advisory services.
- Stay informed about evolving regulations, policies, and reporting frameworks related to carbon accounting and net zero strategies.
- Support or conduct workshops, training sessions, and capacity-building activities for client teams.
- Participate in industry forums, conferences, and working groups to network, exchange knowledge, and contribute to thought leadership.
- Engage in wider sustainability projects, including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Carbon management in infrastructure projects, sustainability services, and whole life carbon assessments (LCAs).
- Serve as a positive team member, embodying the expected values.
- Support training and knowledge sharing with junior staff.
Skills and Experience for Candidates
- Three to five years’ experience in areas such as GHG accounting and reporting (GHG Protocol and/or ISO 14064-1).
- Knowledge of additional GHG accounting and reporting (PAS 2050, 2060 & 2080).
- Familiarity with emissions factor databases and third-party GHG software tools.
- Knowledge or experience with reporting frameworks such as CDP, TCFD, and corporate sustainability reporting (EU CSRD, SASB, GRI).
- Familiarity with industry standards like Science-Based Targets (SBTi) and the Transition Pathway Initiative.
- Proficiency in numerical analysis (e.g., Excel or carbon accounting software) and report and presentation creation (Word or PowerPoint).
- Strong engagement and relationship-building skills, effective communication with internal colleagues and external clients.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn new skills across multiple workstreams.
Additional Beneficial Experience
- Developing feasibility studies, scenario analyses/option appraisals for GHG emission reduction measures.
- Experience in sustainability and environmental strategies, LCAs, EIAs, and Carbon management in infrastructure projects.
- General sustainability knowledge (waste, circular economy, sustainable finance, biodiversity, air pollution, social impact).
- Energy auditing and/or energy regulation compliance.
- Use of Power BI.
- Supporting project management tasks for on-time and on-budget project delivery.
- Development of project case studies, templates, and fee proposals.
