Description

As a Sustainability Consultant working within the construction industry, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commitment to wellness and sustainability and ensuring the successful completion of projects. You will have practical experience of carrying out BREEAM assessments and will be a BREEAM AP and BREEEAM Licenced Assessor. Experience in undertaking WELL Building Standard assessments is also preferred but not required. Knowledge of Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Circular Economy Assessments is also desirable but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • BREEAM (required): Utilise your experience with BREEAM to support projects seeking BREEAM certification, helping to achieve sustainability targets and maximise performance. The applicant will need to have experience of collecting and reviewing BREEAM evidence throughout the work stages, and submitting both Design Stage and Post Construction assessments for review to BRE.
  • WELL Building Standard (preferred): Apply your knowledge of WELL, and as a WELL AP (favourable), to guide projects through the WELL Building Standard certification process, ensuring the highest standards of health and wellness are met. Fitwel experience is also desired but not required.
  • Whole Life Carbon/Circular Economy (preferred): Experience in completing Whole Life Carbon assessments using OneClickLCA and producing both Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Circular Economy Statements for planning applications, is preferred but not required. Experience in supporting GLA referable applications, also preferred.
  • Project Management: Manage and deliver projects internally from concept design to completion.
  • Project Sustainability Integration: Collaborate with clients and project teams to integrate sustainability principles, strategies, and best practices into all phases of construction projects.
  • Mentor Team Members: Assist in mentoring junior team members to assist in their learning and professional development.
  • Education and Training: Provide education and training to project teams and stakeholders on sustainability practices and initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Provide support to and work collaboratively with other members of the business including MEP and acoustics

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture).
  • 3-6 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on sustainability.
  • Knowledge of BREEAM New Construction, BREEAM NDRFO, BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment, ideally from being a trained assessor and BREEAM AP.
  • Understanding of WELL (ideally an Accredited Professional) and ideally Fitwel with proficiency and experience of delivering projects under the WELL Building Standard is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in completing Whole Life Carbon Assessments, and associated report, desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of Circular Economy, and experience in producing Circular Economy Statements for planning applications is desirable but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability issues relating to the built environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of UK sustainability policy frameworks and legislation.
  • Experience in providing sustainability support and advice from early stages of design (i.e. RIBA Stage 1) through to project completion (i.e. RIBA Stage 6), and into building operation.
  • Experience in producing sustainability-related reports for a variety of audiences, including statements and supplementary information for planning applications.
