Description

The Sustainability Manager is a central resource within the Sustainability Team. They will report into the Sustainability Director and will help ensure that the Sustainability Strategy is managed and delivered effectively across the business and development projects.

The role will require an analytical thinker with technical competence to deliver the company’s sustainability targets. You’ll be passionate about delivering material change in the built environment, researching sustainability initiatives and innovation, particularly relating to the residential sector, and keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards to help enhance and deliver the sustainability strategy at both an organization and project level. Strong data management skills, providing input to ongoing reports indicating progress of the delivery of their net zero pathway and environmental KPI’s, with an ability to communicate complex sustainability issues.

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Cross functional role co-ordinating and delivering the organization and project net zero targets consistent with the company's sustainability objectives
  • Monitoring and reporting on organization and project carbon intensity in line with both short term and stretch targets
  • Developing data collection and data management methodologies to support KPI’s

and metrics for reporting and business intelligence purposes.

  • Central collection and coordination of all EKPI data from site teams and office
  • Carrying out whole life carbon assessment and lead project specific certifications
  • Leading on the delivery of other sustainability strategies including biodiversity/ecology, circular economy, waste and water management
  • Establishing and monitoring the progress of project specific environmental KPI’s in line with achieving wider net zero targets and supporting the project teams to achieve the KPI’s
  • Supporting the Sustainability Director ensuring compliance with all statutory and legal obligations
  • Supporting the development of the sustainability value, adding value and promoting sustainability as a key benefit of the development project
  • Working with marketing and sales teams to identify customer demands relating to sustainability features and supporting the Sustainability Director to implement into the wider sustainability agenda
  • Support and input into communication strategies to publicise the company’s sustainability agenda and achievements and promote broad awareness of all sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally
  • Building effective partnerships with external stakeholders and organizations to support sustainability efforts in particular local authorities, City Hall and statutory bodies
  • Compliance and achievement of Group, Division, project, procedures, personal targets and initiatives, assisting with the tracking of sustainability performance and identifying areas for innovation and key sustainability issues in collaboration with main contractors, focusing on the environmental impacts of construction in order to mitigate non-compliance/delays in the programme
  • Supporting the implementation of appropriate internal controls and measurement systems (standard operating procedures) to support the sustainability agenda and compliance from inception through to completion and occupation
  • Supporting internal sustainability related training programme

 

 

You’ll need:

  • Experience data collection/methodology and data management
  • Experience with certifications (eg BREAMM/WELL/NextGen benchmarking

experience is a plus) and LCA’s

  • Well-rounded knowledge of carbon intensity reporting, SBTI’s, NZCS etc
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with all staff, contractors, stakeholders and residents
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint
  • Undertake presentations when required
  • The ability to manage own workload in order to deliver the best outcomes
  • The ability to manage difficult situations in a calm considerate and concise
  • Degree level education
  • 3 years plus property development experience or environmental consulting in the real estate sector
  • Strategic engagement with a diverse range of local, regional and national level stakeholders and development of effective relationships
  • In depth knowledge of sustainability and high level of commercial awareness
