05 Feb February Town Planning Market and Jobs Update
Happy New Year to everyone in the Town Planning industry! I think I share in most Town Planner’s enthusiasm for the improving conditions in the Town Planning industry for the coming year. If 2013 was a recovery year, I expect 2014 to be a year of growth. Most private sector Town Planning consultancies have opportunities for skilled and qualified Town Planners to join their ranks.
Many Directors have reported to me that they are excited on delivering the targets that they have set in their Strategic Business Plans. Within those a critical success factor is being able to bring in the right staff to meet their targets.
As a passive or active job seeker this is a great time as opportunities are being opened up around the country. We are still seeing the bubble of the South-East continuing and staff availability is being further reduced as there is a clear shortage of candidates. For the rest of the country there are many green shoots to take confidence from. We have picked up roles in Manchester, Norwich, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Edinburgh in the last 6 weeks and we hope to be picking up roles in other towns and cities in the next month.
So now is a great time to register with us if you are thinking about making a move this year. One thing we have noticed is that many candidates are now coming to us with 8 or 12 weeks notice periods. Therefore it is more important than ever that you are ahead of the game as many of our clients are frustrated that they cannot get staff when they need them.
Our current permanent roles are listed below and if any of those interests you then give Lewis Davey a call or send through your CV to email@example.com – as always your CV is never sent out without your permission. If the right role isn’t there for you right now, still make contact as our mandates are constantly changing. If you are MRTPI and have private sector experience invariably there is a role just round the corner.
If you are looking to hire, then give me a call on 020 7859 4246 to discuss our recruitment methodology, terms and delivery experience.
