£25,000 - £35,000 basic + car allowance + bonus + private medical insurance

A Town Planner with at least 2 years’ experience gained in the UK is required to join an established and successful consultancy in Bristol.

You will already have gained some solid experience in either the public or private sectors, ideally with at least some experience gained in a development management focused role.

Ideally you will be recently chartered by the RTPI (or RICS P&D) and looking for your second position for career progression, or as a minimum you will have started the APC process and looking for a company to support and mentor you towards full membership.

The Bristol team are involved in a variety of planning schemes and proposals which are generally large in scale and encompass residential, commercial, mixed use and infrastructure led projects including strategic work and given that the company operate in all areas of planning, you will likely gain exposure to projects in other sectors too. Projects span the West Country and sometimes beyond so there will be some travel involved and a driving licence is essential.

Working alongside more senior planning staff,  you will be tasked with a wide variety of project work including undertaking public consultations, preparation, submission and monitoring of planning applications, preparation of evidence for appeals, negotiating applications with local authorities and maintaining client contact.

As you develop and progress, you will become increasingly client facing and start to work with your own clients, managing smaller projects and project teams as you head towards Senior Planner level and as a result, there is plenty of opportunity for the right individual to build a strong and established career within the business.

As well as the chance to work in a supportive environment on a wide range of planning projects, the successful candidate will be well rewarded financially too. At Planner level, basic salary typically ranges from £25-30k per annum DOE although this may be increased to up to £35k if you are already chartered and/or considered to be at Senior Planner level.

Benefits include a generous car allowance, bonus potential, private medical care, an excellent pension schemeplenty of holiday and much more.

If you are an enthusiastic and driven planner who can offer approximately 2-4 years’ of good quality planning experience and are eager to bring your skills and personality to a new company with a solid reputation then I am looking to speak to you! This opportunity would naturally suit a candidate who is a strong team player and has excellent communication skills because liaising with clients, colleagues, external consultants and other stakeholders is essential to this consultative business.
