Our client, a Local Authority based in Essex are looking to recruit a Senior Planning Officer within Development Management for a contract starting with immediate effect and running into the New Year.
A huge jump in housing demand and allocation of land for homes has prompted this council to look to expanding its planning department. The authority is ramping up its promotion of economic growth and reviewing its emerging local plan with an allocation of land for a large number of new homes.
This post offers the requires the contractor to deal Major Applications including pre-application enquiries, a range of planning applications, appeals and post application work. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is well organised, works with a positive outlook and who is able to deal with a busy and demanding caseload.
As a Senior Planning Officer you should be also be a member of the RTPI or eligible for membership.
Key Responsibilities include:
-To deal with larger, more complex changes of use and conversions, and modest new build schemes, including negotiation of associated S106 agreements.
-To prepare statements of evidence for appeals up to and including informal hearings, and present evidence to informal hearings on behalf of the Council.
-The processing of planning applications
-To write reports for committees and other reports and papers, as required
-To attend public meetings and site visits and represent the Council appropriately
-To undertake appropriate public participation exercises on planning applications and development projects and to analyse the results thereof
-To provide advice to applicants and the public on planning applications and development proposals
