Lewis Davey is delighted to be supporting the Better Buildings Partnership with their recruitment of a Senior Project Manager.

The BBP is a collaboration of 34 of the UK’s leading property owners, with over £250bn Assets Under Management, who are working together to improve the sustainability performance of commercial buildings. The BBP is a leading organisation on sustainability within the real estate sector, spearheading market transformation. We have recently launched a Climate Commitment with 24 signatories covering over £300bn AUM committing to deliver net zero carbon buildings by 2050.

We work collaboratively with our members with the objectives of Delivering Building Performance, Improving Professional Understanding and Stimulating Market Transformation.

The BBP is looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the management, delivery & future development of the BBP’s expanding programme of work. Working with the CEO & Programme Manager and in collaboration with our BBP members, the individual will help to deliver BBP’s output, maintaining the BBP’s reputation for producing high quality, targeted tool kits, guidance and case studies.

The core responsibilities of this role will be shaped depending on the candidates experience and capabilities, the role will initially focus on:

The ground-breaking Design for Performance Project:

  • Delivery of the DfP Business Plan
  • Liaison with the DfP Project Board & DfP Advisory Board.
  • Liaison with DfP Pioneers & Pioneer Delivery Partners.
  • Monitoring the progress of DfP Pioneering Projects.
  • Developing & managing engagement with a wide range of industry bodies and stakeholders.

The BBP’s work programme covering Investment & Lending:

  • Supporting the Commercial Real Estate Lending Working Group
  • Supporting the BBP’s Investor Engagement programme including:
  • The Climate Resilience Working Group
  • Engagement with GRESB
  • The European Working Group

Working with other members of the BBP Executive Team, the senior project manager will also be required to collaborate and support other major BBP projects and input into the BBP’s work on the Climate Commitment and Engagement with Occupiers will also form part of this role.

The BBP is driven by its membership and as such the work programme is constantly evolving - the responsibilities of this role are therefore likely to change over time.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate understanding of the BBP’s aims and be able to work independently or as part of small team. The BBP is a highly collaborative organisation and the role will involve working closely with our members and other stakeholders to deliver excellent quality outputs that can be utilised by the wider industry. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Undergraduate & post-graduate degree (or comparable qualification) in sustainability and/or real estate.
  • Significant experience of working on sustainability issues within the built environment sector.
  • An excellent understanding of the commercial property sector and the key sustainability issues for the sector.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to sustainability challenges and a positive attitude towards the role of business in leading change.

The candidate must have:

  • Experience of managing & facilitating working groups to deliver clearly defined outputs.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to deliver projects on schedule and to a high standard.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • The ability and gravitas to liaise with the membership organisations’ senior teams.
  • The ability to use initiative and work autonomously.

Ideally, the candidate should also be familiar with:

  • Real estate sustainability ESG assessment frameworks.
  • Property benchmarking and performance monitoring processes.
  • Property development processes from project inception to occupation.
  • Real estate sustainability ESG assessment frameworks.
  • Built environment rating and verification schemes.
  • Key industry bodies in the built environment and their approaches to sustainability.
  • Government policy on building performance and disclosure.

This is a new post to support the BBP’s expanding work programme and there is significant potential for the right person to shape and develop their own role. An exciting opportunity to work with one of the leading organisations in the UK focused on sustainability in the commercial real estate sector, the senior project manager will be engaging with leading property owners to develop industry leading guidance and influence market transformation.
