25 Feb Lead Planner – Birmingham Multi-Disciplinary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to head up and lead the growth of a burgeoning Planning team working from our client’s Central Birmingham offices.
Our client is a very well-considered multi-disciplinary and their existing Planning teams pride themselves on providing first-class planning and environmental input on a wide variety of building projects across the UK. Their key clients include private developers, house builders, housing associations, local authorities and education providers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, tenacious and client focused Planner to play the leading role in the strategic development of our client’s Town Planning activities in the West Midlands region. This person will manage the successful delivery of innovative planning solutions to some of the most prestigious and technically challenging built environment design projects in the region and across the UK. They will also have the opportunity to develop a team around them and actively help the Director of Planning to grow this important specialism within the overall practice.
Working closely with colleagues of various engineering disciplines to manage the delivery of technically-excellent, profitable projects, they will take the lead on planning, regeneration and master planning commissions while also developing new and nurturing existing outstanding client relationships that maximise customer satisfaction and repeat business. The successful candidate will demonstrate a wealth of expertise and proven management skills to motivate and inspire engineers across a variety of projects. In time they will also grow and develop a team of highly skilled Planners to support and sustain our client’s growing workload and reputation in the Town Planning sphere.
Key candidate attributes:
We are looking for a highly experienced planner with a strong grasp of statutory planning policy, procedures and requirements, and you must be qualified to MRTPI, MRICS or equivalent level. You will have developed a significant portfolio of relevant technical and leadership experience within a consultancy or public sector environment. In your most recent position you have established your excellent reputation as a commercially aware leader in town planning, and have consistently demonstrated your ability to manage multiple large scale projects and teams to deliver to, and exceed client expectations.
Naturally, excellent communication and project management skills are essential to a role of this level and nature. An ability to support and nurture the professional development and attributes of more junior members of the team is also desirable.
